kenosis .. the way of Jesus

it is in the releasing that we gain

in the self-dying that we discover life

in giving it all away that we find true value

in sharing that we are enriched

in the descent that we discover the apex

"unless a seed dies in the soil, it remains a single seed
but when it dies it produces a harvest "       (Jesus)

" unless you die to the you you think you are and esteem, you cannot be my disciple ..
die, every day
and pick up that cross, your personal deathcross, every day
and then come .. follow me "       (Jesus)

  2. I agree that it is easier to see the will of God if we remove our selves from the picture.....I wonder how to do this...while still remaining distinct ....and different.... "free will" I had to google the word kenosis "self emptying" ....I found there is tons of information on this...so Im learning....

I actually came across and interesting comment....

Self limiting is a very good term. I have been struggling with how to present the idea that God could know all my actions, yet not be responsible for them.
The idea that he limits himself , so that I can decide for myself is a powerful argument against Calvinism.
Is there scripture that explains this idea?

    1. as to your own comment on how to see things from God's perspective, scripture states that we are to be 'in' the world, yet not 'of' the world .. that translates into being fully present as we live our lives, being genuine representatives of Jesus and his way, while at the same time understanding and maintaining our alignment with the kingdom of God, which is not of this world ..
the tried and true way to manage this perspective is intimacy with God through Jesus .. that translates into immersing myself in scripture and prayer ..
admitting the usefulness of books and blogs, there is no better way to the mind of God than by the spirit of God who is strongly and intimately involved in both of these, and who lives in us

  3. I appreciate the comment.. I'll point out that I don't believe the kenosis of the Word was a self-limiting, but an emptying .. the limiting think comes from trying to stand on the pinhead of managing the Godman doctrine; I think he emptied himself of the form of God, becoming someone else entirely, ie. Jesus the Christ is no longer God in the sense that God is God .. and that change is a forever change ..
I didn't want to start a new discussion, but this specific issue is close tormy heart ..
