the ambulance just drove off
she lay on a stretcher

in deep pain
crying and vomiting and begging God for relief

a girl crying out to God from inside despair

this world is so broken

there's only one hope for us all
in our own despair
in our own brokenness
stretched out
careless about anything but the pain of life
of death
of the death of life

that hope rests solidly in a person
a man
his name, Jesus

he holds the key to it all
he fights for us
battles forces of evil with an eye to reconciliation
that's his goal
he's bringing it
the hope of humanity
the hope of creation
the hope of the cosmos

healing
restoration
renewal
recreation

let her know you're there, and you care
