being present . ..

sometimes
i ( we ) think we're helping people
and focus on that
and lose out

often i return to Hebrews
i see there a Man who learned
get that .. Jesus learned

and i ask me
how is it that the Word of old, himself Creator, could learn anything ..

and then i ask me
how is it that i, an avowed disciple of that Man, could think i have nothing to learn
or, to be more pointed, think i have nothing to learn from certain people
like the ones i ' serve '

a friend reminds me from time to time ..
go there with a sense of being blessed
blessed in their presence
blessed by their presence
blessed in the experience of their presence

learn
listen
allow them to speak into my life

pause the need to instruct correct counsel direct witness-to ..
pause that and allow for them to speak to me
for me to see Godness in them
for me to recognize the reality of the imago dei in their eyes
and be blessed

God is certainly not limited to my reality
to my religion
to my denomination
to my movement
to my country or culture or subculture

God is
God is present
in everyone

mine is to find his presence
in everyone
in each one

and be blessed in the blessing of his presence in their presence

be willing to be present

be
